  • OT / Anaesthesia Technician posts: B.Sc / Diploma in OT Technology or Anaesthesia Technology, or the equivalent prescribed for the post.

Relevant work experience may be required for certain Group B (higher level) posts. Kindly refer to the notification for the exact qualification and experience for each post code.

The age limit generally ranges from 18 to 30 years for most Group C technician posts and up to 35 to 40 years for certain Group B posts, as on the closing date. Age relaxation is provided as per Government of India rules:

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • SC / ST: 5 years

  • SC / ST / EWS candidates: Rs 2,400 per group
  • Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): Fully exempted

Salary / Pay Scale

These are Central Government posts carrying attractive pay as per the 7th Central Pay Commission. Depending on the post, the pay falls between Level 1 and Level 8 of the pay matrix. Broadly, technician-level Group C posts start around Rs 29,200 (Level 5), while higher Group B technical officer posts go up to the Rs 47,600 to Rs 1,51,100 (Level 8) range. Selected candidates are also eligible for DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and other benefits, which makes the in-hand package quite rewarding.

Selection Process

The AIIMS CRE-5 follows a multi-stage selection process in which each stage is mandatory to move ahead:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT): the primary written screening.
  2. Skill Test / Trade Test: conducted (wherever applicable) for shortlisted technical candidates.
  3. Document Verification (DV): checking of original certificates.
  4. Medical Examination: final fitness check before appointment.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus Highlights

The CBT is a 90-minute online test as per the following pattern:

  • Total Questions: 100 objective-type MCQs
  • Total Marks: 400 (each correct answer carries 4 marks)
  • Negative Marking: 1/4 mark (i.e. 1 mark) deducted for every wrong answer
  • Duration: 90 minutes

The paper broadly has a General Section (General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Computer Knowledge) and a Domain-Specific Section based on the technical subject of the post (Lab Technology, OT/Anaesthesia Technology or Radiography). The subject portion carries the maximum weightage, so aspirants should focus strongly on their core paramedical subject.

How to Apply Online

  1. Visit the official AIIMS examination website.
  2. Register with a valid email ID and mobile number to generate your login credentials.
  3. Log in and fill the application form with accurate personal, educational and post-related details.
  4. Upload the scanned photograph, signature and required documents in the prescribed format.
  5. Pay the application fee online as per your category.
  6. Submit the form and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.
  7. Apply through the official website: https://www.aiimsexams.ac.in

Admit Card & Result

The admit card (hall ticket) is expected to be released roughly three days before the CBT date on the official portal, and can be downloaded using the registration number and password. It is mandatory to carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID to the examination centre. After the CBT, the answer key and result will be published on the same website, followed by the merit list, skill test schedule and document verification calls.

Preparation Tips & Document Checklist

Since the domain paper carries the highest weightage, candidates should revise their core technical subject thoroughly from standard MLT / OT / Radiography textbooks. Solving previous CRE papers and taking timed mock tests will build speed and accuracy, especially given the negative marking. Do keep aside 30 to 40 minutes daily for current affairs too.

Documents to keep ready: recent passport-size photograph, scanned signature, 10th and 12th certificates, diploma/degree mark sheets, category and PwBD certificates (if applicable), a valid photo ID (Aadhaar/PAN), and a working email ID and mobile number.
