The State Bank of India (SBI) has released the much-awaited recruitment notification for the post of Probationary Officer (PO) under Advertisement No. CRPD/PO/2026-27/09. As per the official notification, a total of 1,500 vacancies have been announced, and the online application window is currently active. Interested aspirants who hold a graduate degree may apply online before the last date, which is 8 July 2026.

Vacancy Details

SBI has notified a total of 1,500 Probationary Officer vacancies for this recruitment cycle. This includes 1,446 regular vacancies and 54 backlog vacancies, distributed across the UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST categories, along with reservations for PwBD candidates as applicable. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

The candidate must hold a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Candidates who are in the final year/semester of their graduation may also apply on a provisional basis, provided they produce proof of passing the degree on or before the date specified in the official notification.

Age Limit

As per the notification, candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as on 1 April 2026. That is, the candidate should have been born not later than 01.04.2005 and not earlier than 02.04.1996 (both dates inclusive). Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India rules:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years (with applicable additional relaxation by category)
  • Ex-servicemen and other special categories: as per rules

Candidates should verify the exact relaxation applicable to their category in the official notification.

Application Fee

  • General / EWS / OBC: Rs. 750/-
  • SC / ST / PwBD: Nil (no fee)

The application fee is to be paid online through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. Once paid, the fee is non-refundable.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I) with a basic pay of Rs. 48,480/- (in the pay scale of 48480 – 2000/7 – 62480 – 2340/2 – 67160 – 2680/7 – 85920). New entrants are also eligible for four advance increments. In addition to basic pay, an SBI PO receives Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, medical benefits and other perks. As per the official notification, the approximate total Cost to Company (CTC) at the Mumbai centre is around Rs. 21.97 lakh per annum.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be carried out in the following stages:

  1. Phase I – Preliminary Examination: An objective online test (qualifying in nature) covering English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.
  2. Phase II – Main Examination: Comprising an Objective Test and a Descriptive Test (Letter Writing and Essay).
  3. Phase III – Psychometric Test, Group Exercise (GE) & Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the Mains will appear for the psychometric test, group exercise and interview round.

The final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Group Exercise & Interview, as detailed in the official notification.

  3. Register yourself using a valid email ID and mobile number to generate your registration credentials.
  4. Fill in the application form carefully with your personal, educational and category details.
  5. Upload the required documents — photograph, signature, handwritten declaration and thumb impression — in the prescribed format.
  6. Pay the application fee online (if applicable to your category).
  7. Submit the form and download/print the confirmation page for future reference.
