Vacancy Details
The Indian Navy does not always fix a rigid vacancy figure in advance. The number of Agniveer (SSR) and Agniveer (MR) posts is decided according to the operational and service requirements of the Navy, and the seats are distributed trade-wise and separately for male and female candidates. Candidates are advised to refer to the official notification for the exact batch-wise vacancy position once released.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Agniveer (SSR): Candidates should have passed 10+2 (Class 12) with Mathematics and Physics, along with at least one subject out of Chemistry, Biology or Computer Science, from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. A relevant three-year engineering diploma is also acceptable as per the notification.
- Agniveer (MR): Candidates should have passed Matriculation (Class 10) from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
Age Limit
The Agnipath Scheme prescribes a defined date-of-birth window for each batch. For recent batches, candidates born roughly between 01 December 2004 and 31 October 2009 were eligible, with the exact window varying by batch. Aspirants must satisfy the age band specified for the particular batch in the official notification. As the Agniveer enrolment is age-band based, the usual SC/ST/OBC age relaxation does not apply in the conventional manner; candidates should confirm category-specific relaxations and reservation as stated in the notification.
Application Fee
- Examination fee of Rs 550/- plus 18% GST is payable (as per the recent cycle).
- Fee is to be paid online through net banking, debit/credit card or UPI.
- Candidates are advised to confirm the exact, category-wise fee on the official website before paying.
Salary / Pay Scale
Selected Agniveers are paid a customised monthly package under the Agnipath Scheme:
- 1st Year: Rs 30,000 per month
- 2nd Year: Rs 33,000 per month
- 3rd Year: Rs 36,500 per month
- 4th Year: Rs 40,000 per month
Of this, 70% is paid in-hand and 30% goes to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, with a matching contribution from the Government. On completion of the four-year tenure, an Agniveer receives a one-time Seva Nidhi package (about Rs 10.04 lakh, plus accrued interest as applicable), which is exempt from Income Tax. Risk & hardship, dress and travel allowances are also admissible.
Selection Process
- Stage I – Written Examination (INET, Computer Based Test): Online objective-type test as per the prescribed syllabus.
- Stage II – Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Qualifying in nature. For male candidates the 1.6 km run must be completed in 6 minutes 30 seconds, along with squats, push-ups and sit-ups; relaxed standards apply for female candidates.
- Document Verification & Medical Examination: As per the medical standards laid down by the Indian Navy.
