Vacancy Details
The graduate-level notification (CEN 06/2025) carries around 5,810 vacancies, while the undergraduate notification (CEN 07/2025) carries approximately 3,058 vacancies, taking the combined total to roughly 8,868 posts. Among graduate posts, Goods Train Manager has the largest share with about 3,416 vacancies, followed by Senior Clerk cum Typist (around 638), Station Master (around 615) and other supervisory posts. UG-level posts include Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Trains Clerk and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
For graduate-level (CEN 06/2025) posts such as Station Master and Goods Train Manager, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognised university. For undergraduate-level (CEN 07/2025) posts such as Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist, a 12th (10+2) pass or its equivalent from a recognised board is the minimum qualification. Some posts also require typing proficiency, which is tested at a later stage.
Age Limit
As per the official notification, the general age range is between 18 and 33 years (the upper limit may vary slightly by post and notification). Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India rules – typically 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), and 10 years (plus category relaxation) for PwBD candidates. Application Fee
- General / OBC / EWS candidates: Rs. 500 (out of which Rs. 400 is refunded after appearing in CBT 1, subject to bank charges).
- SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBD / Female / Transgender / Minority / Economically Backward Class candidates: Rs. 250 (fully refunded after appearing in CBT 1).

Salary / Pay Scale
Posts are offered under the 7th Pay Commission across Pay Levels 2 to 6 in the Pay Matrix. Indicative initial basic pay is around Rs. 19,900 (Level 2) for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Rs. 21,700 (Level 3), Rs. 25,500 (Level 4), Rs. 29,200 (Level 5) and Rs. 35,400 (Level 6) for posts like Station Master and Goods Train Manager. In addition, candidates receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance and other admissible benefits as per Railway rules, along with attractive career growth prospects.
Selection Process
- First Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 1) – common screening test.
