Selection Process

The selection for SIDBI Grade A is carried out in three stages:

  1. Phase 1 (Preliminary Examination) – Online objective test, qualifying in nature.
  2. Phase 2 (Main Examination) – Online examination with objective and descriptive papers; marks count towards the final merit.
  3. Phase 3 (Interview) – Personal interview for candidates shortlisted after Phase 2. A psychometric test may also be conducted.

Kindly note that the final merit list is prepared out of 300 marks, combining Phase 2 (200 marks) and the interview (100 marks). Phase 1 is only a screening round and its marks are not added to the final score.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus Highlights

Phase 1: A single online paper of 200 marks with a duration of 120 minutes, covering Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge and a stream-specific/MSME component. There is a negative marking of one-fourth (1/4) mark for every wrong answer. Sections like English, Reasoning, Quant and Computer are qualifying, while General Awareness, the MSME section and the Stream-Specific Test decide shortlisting for Phase 2.

Phase 2: Worth 200 marks with both objective and descriptive tests. Paper 1 is English Language (letter/essay/precis writing) and Paper 2 covers MSMEs – Policy, Regulatory and Legal Framework, Finance and Management. Candidates preparing for the specialist stream should focus additionally on their domain subject. Key focus areas across both phases include banking and financial awareness, current affairs, and knowledge about SIDBI and the MSME ecosystem.
