Vacancy Details

Vacancy numbers differ across ESIC’s recruitment drives. In the recent Combined Recruitment Examination (CRE) cycle, ESIC notified a combined total of around 2,423 posts, including approximately 783 UDC, 175 Stenographer, 1,257 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) and 208 Social Security Officer posts. A fresh all-India UDC notification for 2026 is awaited. Separately, ESIC hospitals and medical colleges are conducting Senior Resident walk-in drives during 2026, with individual notices announcing posts such as 11, 20 and 60 vacancies at different institutions. Nursing and Paramedical recruitment is also expected to be notified. Candidates are advised to check the exact, post-wise vacancy figures in the relevant official notification.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • UDC: A Degree from a recognised University or equivalent, along with working knowledge of computers.
  • Stenographer: Passed 12th standard (Intermediate) or equivalent, with the prescribed shorthand/typing speed as per the notification.
  • Nursing/Paramedical: Relevant qualification such as GNM or B.Sc Nursing with valid State Nursing Council registration (for Nursing posts), or the relevant diploma/degree for paramedical roles, as specified.
  • Senior Resident: A Postgraduate Degree/Diploma (or MBBS with the prescribed experience) in the concerned specialty from a recognised university, with valid registration.

Age Limit

  • UDC & Stenographer: Generally 18 to 27 years.
  • Senior Resident: Usually up to 45 years (as per the walk-in notice).

Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India norms – typically 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and additional relaxation for PwD and Ex-Servicemen candidates. Kindly verify the exact upper age limit and relaxation in the official notification.

Application Fee

For the administrative posts (UDC/Stenographer), the indicative fee structure as per earlier notifications is:

  • General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 500/-
  • SC / ST / PwBD / Female / Ex-Servicemen: Rs. 250/-

Senior Resident walk-in interviews are generally fee-exempt or follow a separate fee structure. Candidates should confirm the applicable fee and payment mode in the official notification.

Salary / Pay Scale

  • UDC: Pay Level 4 (7th CPC), approximately Rs. 25,500 – 81,100 per month.
  • Stenographer: As per the applicable Pay Level in the notification.
  • Senior Resident / Nursing / Paramedical: As per ESIC norms and the concerned post’s Pay Level, with admissible allowances.

The in-hand salary will include Dearance Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other admissible allowances as applicable.

Selection Process

  1. UDC: Phase-I (Preliminary Exam – qualifying), Phase-II (Main Exam – merit), and a Computer Skill Test (qualifying).
  2. Stenographer: Written/Main examination followed by a Skill/Stenography Test.
  3. Nursing/Paramedical: Written examination and/or document verification, as per the notification.
  4. Senior Resident: Walk-in interview, followed by document verification.
