Selection Process

SBI Clerk selection is entirely merit-based with no interview. It runs in three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination: An online objective test of 100 marks (English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability) of 60 minutes. This stage is only qualifying; its marks do not count in the final merit.
  2. Main Examination: An online objective test of 200 marks covering General/Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude. The Mains score decides the final merit list, with a 0.25-mark penalty for every wrong answer.
  3. Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Provisionally selected candidates must know the specified local language of the state. Those who studied it at Class 10 or 12 are usually exempted.
